Clinic format
My clinics appear to be quite different in format and organisation from many other horsemanship clinics.
I only teach private sessions and limit it to a maximum of 8 sessions per day. I believe this enables me to focus on each individuals needs and they receive my personal attention for an hour. I have found this offers greater value and help to people than being one person in a group of riders. Some people are sceptical of this at first, but after participating in a clinic nobody has ever said they would prefer a group clinic again. So I think it is the right decision.
All participants are encouraged to attend the entire day to gain from watching other sessions and being involved in discussions. A lot can be learned by watching other sessions.
Hosting A Clinic
Charges
My fee can be obtained upon request. The charge to individual participants is at the behest of each organizer.
I also require meals and accommodation during the clinic.
For Australian clinics, I ask that the clinic run a minimum of 2 days. For overseas clinic, a clinic needs to be a minimum of 3 days. If there is enough interest I am happy to teach up to 6 days.
Format
I only teach individual lessons and not groups. I find people get better value for their money by having one-on-one sessions and I can cater to the needs of each participants. Furthermore, each person gets an equal share of my time, which seems fair since everybody is paying the same. This is something that can’t be done when sessions are made up of several riders.
Most clinic hosts offer 60min sessions with up to 8 sessions per day. If the number of participants is smaller, I'm happy to offer each person longer sessions to fill the day.
Even though each participant may only have part of the day with me, I encourage people to attend for the entire day because I feel a lot can be learned by watching other sessions. Questions are encouraged all through the day.
So the bottom line is that the clinic host organizes up to 8 individual lessons a day and is responsible for my daily fee. Included is accommodation and all meals.
Venue
I have worked in open paddocks and 5 star venues. As long as the facility is safe and there is enough space for floats, cars and horses it will work. Of course, weather, location and cost should be a consideration to you when choosing a venue.
A round yard can be useful sometimes, but not essential.
Insurance
I have professional indemnity to the value of $10million AUD and can provide a certificate of currency if required.
Filming
I don't allow videoing of clinic sessions, although still photos are okay.
