I have been sorting through my books to cut down on the clutter. It’s been a bigger job than I anticipated. It’s hard trying to decide what horse books to keep and what to donate.
One of the things I have heard coming from the mouths of other trainers, instructors, and clinicians is, “I learned it from the horse,” or “Everything I know was taught to me by the horse.”
In my view, we should compete only when we feel we have had a good day because we spent it with our horse, even if we came last. I suspect competition has ruined more horses and more human/horse relationships than most of us want to admit.
