I just finished a clinic hosted by Mykel O’Conner. It was great, and I hope the attendees enjoyed it as much as I did teaching them. Thank you Mykel and Nathan.
At breakfast, Mykel and I were talking about horses (as is usual when horse people get together). At one point, Mykel said something that made me think. I can’t quote exactly how she phrased it, but Mykel said that a question she often asks her students is, “What do you want to achieve in your time with your horse.”
I think it is an excellent and important question we should ask ourselves more than once to help keep us on the right path.
So try this quiz.
Why do you have a horse or horses? When your horse reaches its last day, what do you want to be able to say about your time together? What is your reason for having a horse, and what is your ultimate goal? What answer would make you proud to have been your horse’s carer?
