I am extremely proud that my clinics are welcoming enough that mums feel comfortable bringing their babies and toddlers along for the day. I know that some parents can’t come to clinics because it can be difficult to access child care.
I think I meet 4 or 5 people a year who tell me that their horse hates men. Almost always the horse is a mare. They tell me how cranky their horse behaves when handled by men.
It is important that we take advantage of the experience and mistakes that others have made in learning to be good horse people. They can save us from repeating the terrible mistakes of past generations.
It’s okay if sometimes we stop repeating an exercise for the wrong reason or at the wrong time. Not a problem. We can fix that the next time. But we must never stop asking the questions, why did I ask my horse that and why did I stop asking my horse that?
I just finished a clinic in Canberra, Australia. We had lots of fun. One particular fun lesson was working with Shelley and her super smart and sensitive mare, Sarafina (FiFi).
