Mykel said something that made me think. I can’t quote exactly how she phrased it, but Mykel said that a question she often asks her students is, “What do you want to achieve in your time with your horse.”
I explained that the purpose of the groundwork was to better prepare a horse to be ridden. Everything we do should be connected to developing a better riding horse.
A friend of mine told me she had been invited to compete in a horse-starting event at the Iowa State Fair. I was initially disappointed that she agreed to it. But my friend is my friend and that means I support her decisions in the best way I can.
Have you ever had a brilliant idea to work out at the gym for the first time in months? Or perhaps you made plans to go on a hike with some friends to get away from the television for the day. What about going for a horse ride after a few months of hibernating indoors during a cold wet winter?
